Large outflows, smaller inflows
On September 16, Bitcoin and Ethereum spot ETFs saw combined net outflows of about $520 million, according to Crypto Briefing’s report carried by TradingView. Bitcoin accounted for about $296 million and Ethereum about $224 million.
At the same time, Solana and XRP products attracted smaller inflows. The split is notable, but it should not be read as a simple rotation signal: the smaller products have much smaller asset bases, so a modest dollar flow can look large in percentage terms.
Flows are evidence, not a verdict
ETF flows show how money moved through particular wrappers on a particular day. They do not reveal every derivatives position, offshore flow, wallet transfer, or investor time horizon. Price can also rise while ETFs experience outflows if other buyers absorb the supply.
The useful question is not ‘inflow or outflow?’ but ‘relative to what base?’
The Fed’s 25-basis-point hike added a macro reason for institutions to reassess risk. Traders studying crypto should pair ETF flows with funding rates, open interest, stablecoin liquidity, spot volume, and the dollar.
